Set amongst the pine trees and sand dunes of the Lancashire Coast, the course provides a wonderfully varied challenge to the visitor.
From the red markers, the course is 5,356 yards (4,897 metres) with a Standard Scratch Score of 71.
The tight fairways and well guarded greens demand skill and precision from golfers of all levels. Indigenous heather protects much of the rough and great caution is required at many holes.
There is splendid contrast to be found on the Formby Ladies course. Those holes lying on the flat landward side entice players into error by their misleading air of innocence; while the picturesque adventurous holes lying among the sandhills and the pine woods provide many golfing challenges.
Several holes have elevated tees providing excellent views over much of the course and towards the Irish Sea. The par 3 holes are some of the most difficult you could wish to play anywhere.
Formby Ladies lies in the central area of the property owned by the acclaimed Formby Golf Club. The latter is a championship golf course and is available to visitors every day, including weekends, except on competition days.
